Larger Scale Projects

I use a sample process for larger scale projects during the proposal and planning stage.

Painted furniture:

I paint moveable items(furniture, lighting, textiles, etc) in my Valmont Street studio.  I no longer paint these items on site at residences or commercial spaces.  As the owner, you are required to arrange delivery or pick up.  When I paint these items, I do all prep work myself and it can be time consuming.  Once the item is finished and if it is damaged in shipping or at your home repairs become your responsibility.

Wall and trim finishes:

I do not do prep work in residences and commercial spaces.  This includes filling, priming and sanding between coats of plaster or sheetrock walls and wood or composite trim, built-ins, cabinetry and flooring.  I typically begin a wall or trim finish project with a level 5 finish that is to my specifications.  When we reach this point in the design phase of a custom finish I discuss prep specifications with the designer, contractor or architect.

I do not do kitchen cabinet finishing jobs at this time.

The Process

A project begins when a client approaches me about an idea.

  1. First we will work together to discuss the details and extent of your project.

  2. Next, I will present you with a proposal and plan.

  3. Lastly, once the proposal is approved I require a 50% deposit for the work to begin and for you to maintain a place on my calendar.

Time frame:

The current lead time for custom furniture items is six to eight weeks. The time frame for a commercial or residential project from start to completion depends on the complexity of the project.

Projects come in many forms:

An heirloom piece of furniture that needs a new finish, a custom piece of furniture that starts as a dream and ends in reality, a coveted fabric or wallpaper that is no longer in production re-designed to the perfect scale as a hand painted mural for a historic home.
